POWDER COATINGS

Powder coatings provide a wide range of performance properties, offering excellent resistance to corrosion, heat, impact, abrasion, fading from sunlight, and extreme weather. Color selection is virtually unlimited with high and low gloss, metallic and clear finishes available. Powder coatings are attractive and durable to suit particular requirements of the job and are environmentally compliant.

HOW DOES IT WORK:
Finely ground particles of pigment and resin are sprayed on to the item to be coated. The coated item is then placed in a curing oven where heat fuses the pigment and the resin into solid shell. The result is an attractive and maintenance - free 'coat of armor' that protects against scratching, corrosion, wear, and abrasion. Because the powder adheres electrostatically, it must be applied to a very clean surface. It will not cling well to old paint, primer, most metal fillers or rust. Chemical stripping and/or sandblasting of the surface is recommended. The coated parts are cured in an oven at 400-500 degrees Fahrenheit for up to 20 minutes or more. Any materials that cannot withstand this time and temperature exposure must be removed before coating. This would include foam insulation, rubber, plastic, bushings, paper or gaskets.

We can accommodate parts as small as a screw to parts 5'H x 3'W x 20'L'.

WHAT CAN YOU POWDER COAT:
Powder coatings are now used on hundreds of parts and products, with ongoing technological breakthroughs expanding the list every day. There are innumerable everyday uses for powder coated products such as lighting fixtures, antennas, tractors and farm equipment, bicycles, exercise equipment, display racks, shelves, metal furniture, computer cabinets, barbecue grills, patio furniture, garden tools, tool boxes, iron beds which benefit from a powder coated finish.

While powder coated finishes have been used on metal for years, they had not been used on wood. By giving the powder coating particles a mild electric charge as they are applied to pre-treated, recycled wood -- often fiberboard of various densities, which has become a primary material of choice in the furniture world. The powder is then baked onto the wood via a low-heat curing Process.

At Baumann Coatings we have powder coated a vast array of products and components. The odds are good that we can powder coat whatever it is you have in mind, so don't hesitate to give us a call to find out more. We can also spray paint any items, especially the larger items such as trailers, etc. that do not fit in the oven.
